Microdacyn smells like chlorine, will it be painful to apply to my patient?

A:

No, The concentration of chlorine species in Microdacyn are similar to what is naturally found in your body.
Microdacyn is non-irritating, non-cytotoxic & pH neutral making it gentle to apply.

Q:

How long does Microdacyn last?

A:

Microdaycn has a printed, un-opened shelf life of 24 months
Microdacyn must be discarded within 60 days of opening.

Q:

Is it dangerous to use Microdacyn past 60 days?

A:

Microdacyn will not become dangerous but it will loose adequate antimicrobial efficacy after 60 days
It is always best to use Microdacyn that has been freshly opened for maximum effect

Q:

Do the Microdacyn Wound Care Solution & Microdacyn Hydrogel work the same?

A:

Both Microdacyn products utilize the same SOS technology

However, the Microdacyn Wound Care Solution should always be used first to prep the wound before applying Microdacyn Hydrogel

Which Microdacyn product should I be performing compress soaks with?

A:

Wound soaks should always be performed with a saturated medium such as gauze, using Microdacyn Wound Care Solution

Q:

I'm not getting any response from the wound since starting with Microdacyn

A:

Increase frequency of application, contact time for compress soaks and the volume of Microdacyn applied to the wound.
There is no maximum amount of Microdacyn that can be used allowing you to continually increase the aggressiveness in which you manage the wound to achieve infection control & achieve healing progression 

Q:

Why soak with Microdacyn after cleaning with Microdacyn?

A:

Irrigating and flushing the wound with Microdacyn will remove planktonic bacteria but to penetrate biofilms Microdacyn Wound Care Solution requires greater contact times.
>10 minutes of contact effectively disrupts and damages the biofilm from within

Q:

Do I need to wash the Microdacyn Wound Care Solution out before dressing?

A:

No, leave Microdacyn Wound Care Solution in the wound, it will aid in creating a moist wound environment and poses no danger to the wound.

Q:

What dressing system should I be using with Microdacyn products?

A:

Microdacyn is compatible with all dressing types including silver. Choose whatever dressing is most appropriate

How long do I use Microdacyn for?

A:

Use Microdacyn until complete wound closure

Is it Microdacyn suitable as a prophylactic treatment or skin prep pre-op

A:

Yes, Microdacyn is only toxic to infection, using Microdacyn proactively to prevent infection may be advantageous in high-risk patients or patients in high-risk settings

Can Microdacyn be used for other skin treatments such as dermatitis or Acne?

A:

Yes is can be. There are specific formulations of SOS designed to treat a range of skin & nasal conditions
